Gordon Bennett, MD, FRCS
Dr. Bennett is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery at the Crystal Clinic in Akron, OH. Dr. Bennett received his medical degree with distinction in 1982 from the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine, Canada and went on to an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Akron General Medical Center / Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron followed by a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX. In private practice since 1989, Dr. Bennett has also served as the Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the British Columbia Lions Football Club. He is credited with over 60 publications and scientific presentations and is responsible for developing a number of Residency Education Lectures for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at Akron General Medical Center. Dr. Bennett is a known thought leader in the area of Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery, and brings his depth of research and experience to the OrthoHelix Medical Advisory Board.
Martin Boyer, MD
Dr. Boyer is a practicing Hand Surgeon at the Orthopedic Surgery Center and holds the position of Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He obtained his Medical Degree in 1988 and completed his Residency in 1995 at the University of Toronto, Canada. He went on to Fellowships at both the Sunnybrook Health Science Center at the University of Toronto and the Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Boyer’s clinical specialties include: Orthopedics; hand surgery; wrist surgery and microsurgery; Traumatic, degenerative and neuromuscular conditions of the hand and upper extremity in adults and children; Carpal tunnel syndrome; osteoarthritis; rheumatoid arthritis; fractures of the hand and wrist; arthritis of the base of the thumb and disorders of the ulnar side of the wrist and distal radioulnar joint; reconstructive microsurgery; replantation surgery; and free vascularized fibural grafts for avascular necrosis of the hip, post-traumatic of the hip, and post-tumor reconstruction.
Bryan D. Den Hartog, MD
Dr. Den Hartog, a Foot and Ankle Orthopedic Surgeon with the Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center in Rapid City, SD, focuses his practice on orthopedic problems of the foot, ankle, and knee. He obtained his Medical Degree in 1985 from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City, Iowa and went on to a Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. His Fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery followed at the Medical College of Wisconson. Dr. Den Hartog is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. He actively publishes and presents his research to colleagues at professional meetings. In addition to being Board Certified in Kansas, Wisconson, Iowa and South Dakota, Dr. Den Hartog has taken his surgical skills to clinics in third world settings such as Haiti and Venezuela.
John Dietrich, MD, FACS
Dr. Dietrich is both a Hand Surgeon and the Chairman of Quality Assurance at the Crystal Clinic Summit Hand Center in Akron, OH. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine, an Adjunct Professor in the Institute for Biomedical Engineering Research at the University of Akron and holds staff appointments at six local hospitals. Dr. Dietrich obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Michigan in 1978 and went on to residencies in General Surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan and in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1989, he completed his one year fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity and Microsurgery at Allegheny General Hospital, also at the University of Pittsburgh. He is credited with over 80 publications and presentations covering a wide variety of complex topics in the reconstructive surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremities.
Brad Edwards, MD
Dr. Edwards specializes in sports medicine with a focus in disorders of the shoulder and orthopedic surgery. He holds medical licensure in Texas, Louisiana, and Minnesota and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He holds appointments at Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Methodist Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Edwards attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge as an undergraduate student and worked as an athletic trainer for the university’s teams. He pursued his Medical Doctorate and Orthopedic Residency from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Edwards then completed a one year Shoulder Surgery and Sports Medicine Fellowship in Lyon, France. During this time he was also the Clinical Orthopedic Society Traveling Fellow. Before moving to Houston, Dr. Edwards was in practice for two years at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center in Minneapolis where he was the Chief Shoulder Surgeon and Director of Research. Dr. Edwards has published more than 40 scientific articles, ten book chapters and has given more than 100 scientific presentations at national and international meetings.
