This summer, the Cleveland Indians have proven their will to succeed; hard work and team unity can take on the big city teams with the big city salaries. A team like the 2011 Indians comes along infrequently and is most enjoyable to support. It is a great thrill to see young talent at the plate, nervous, but determined, stepping up and hitting a base hit, followed by the look of surprise and then realizing he better hustle down to first base. Also, equally thrilling is how the team overcomes continuous setbacks from injuries and playing errors, to win a game that looked to be in the hands of the competitor.

In many ways, the example of the 2011 Cleveland Indians is similar to the quest of OrthoHelix. Hopefully, our associates realize that the culture of innovation at OrthoHelix is driven by an intense will to succeed by our employees and independent selling organizations. The people of OrthoHelix take great pride in delivering a product to the market that is recognized by surgeons as “Premium.” With our premium products we succeed by driving sales to new records on a regular basis. Recently, we held a contest between all employees to develop efficiencies within our National Service Center, which provides supplemental inventory to the field to support spikes in surgical demands. In addition, a second component of the contest, was to develop unique demonstration techniques of the new PocketLock™ Technology. The results were unbelievable and will be incorporated into our business. The judges pained over naming a winner, however, of the three teams a winner was named, and by the looks of the other teams faces, the “will to succeed” was evident as the team reunified into the OrthoHelix one team. The employees had spent hours of extra time at work developing the ideas, while maintaining their regular job. The enjoyment the teams experienced proved that you can have a “fun” workplace. Isn’t that interesting: hard work can be fun!!!

OrthoHelix is constantly faced with taking on the “big city teams with the big city salaries” in the form of the major ortho companies. Like the Indians, we maintain a winning record and enjoy the thrill of winning, at each and every account we service across the United States.

Every once in a while, unexpected recognition reaches our team. This is like the New York Times paying a compliment to the Cleveland Indians. Most recently, on July 14^th, OrthoHelix was awarded a second Ohio Third Frontier grant, for one million dollars to complete and expand the PocketLock™ Technology. The State of Ohio recognized OrthoHelix, for a second time, as an innovator and a company that can overcome obstacles. We hope our surgeon and provider partners will benefit from the OrthoHelix team, just as the great fans of Cleveland benefit from the Indians.
